The Margaret Gale Thornton Chapter, NSDAR, was organized on December 06, 2016 with twenty-four members.

The name Margaret Gale Thornton was chosen by chapter organizing members to preserve the memory of a local tavern and innkeeper who provided for colonists, militia, and the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. The Half Moon Inn was a destination where like-minded individuals could gather to discuss the current events and liberty.  The popular Inn still stands today where it houses the Newtown Historic Association.

Currently, we have 32 members, most of them from Doylestown, Buckingham, Pipersville, Perkasie, Plumsteadville, Solebury, Newtown, New Hope, and other surrounding towns.  We also have out-of-state members who support our chapter, from Florida to Alaska, and Texas and Arizona.
